Young Everton star Tom Cannon is wanted by Fleetwood.
The 19-year-old Irish Under-21 striker is closing in on the Toffees side.
But League One Cod Army is desperate to take him for the rest of the season.
Fleetwood, led by Scott Brown, are eyeing a loan for the teenager.
He joined the Everton Academy aged 10 and this summer signed a new three-year contract with the club.
Cannon has scored nine goals in 13 games for the Everton U21 side this season.
Patron of caramels Frank Lampard noticed him and called him up to the first team last week.
Cannon was substituted for the final 16 minutes of Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at Bournemouth.
He also came off the bench in the Carabao Cup loss to the same opposition in midweek.
Lampard said he was “delighted” to be able to offer Cannon his debut on Tuesday.
