HOLLAND – East Coast airline purchases FlyBy Air, the fixed base operator of West Michigan regional airport, and will take over FlyBy Air’s contract with the airport.
The Fixed Base Operator (FBO) is a private company that provides aviation services at the airport, including charter flights, fuel service, aircraft maintenance, aircraft rental, service client and flying lessons.
The airport authority on Monday approved the transfer of the fixed base operator contract to FlightLevel Aviation. FlightLevel’s contract with WMRA is valid for 20 years.

“After careful evaluation, we are delighted to welcome FlightLevel Aviation to the WMRA as an FBO,†WMRA Director Aaron Thelenwood said in a press release announcing the change.
“FlightLevel Aviation not only provides the same high quality services we have received under Flyby Air, but they have shown great interest in advancing the airport’s business and community development goals.”
FlightLevel has agreed to maintain staff levels and provide jobs for all current Flyby Air employees at Holland Airport, the WMRA said.
FlightLevel acquires FlyBy Air, formerly known as Tulip City Air Service, including its operations in Muskegon and Traverse City.
The company, based in Norwood, Mass., Serves as the FBO for 10 small airports on the east coast.
The transfer of ownership was closed on July 15.
The airport said FlightLevel will continue to offer the same services as FlyBy Air at WMRA, and fuel and maintenance costs are not expected to change under the new company.
